Environment thumbnails / speed paintings

A lot has happened again since my last update and that's one of the reasons why I haven't uploaded any new content in a while. I won't make any promises on doing so in the future, but I am going to try updating more frequently.

So what have I been up to? Done some freelancing, joined a very promising and exciting game project, been traveling and of course moved to Amsterdam. Oh yeah and I've also updated my website with couple of new portfolio pieces and added finally a about section.

Untill next time!

Here is a speed paint video I created while ago. You can see me painting a Sci-Fi dwarf character in Photoshop cs4. This one took me less than an hour to "finish".

I'll be updating this blog more later on, currently busy and blogger seems not to respond to my changes anymore! Grr...

Speed paint/warm up in photoshop cs4

Many new interesting things going on in my life right now. I'm part of a movie project I cannot tell much yet but, it's based on historical events. And soon I should be backing up my stuff and move to Netherlands for almost half a year. I'm really excited by this opportunity and we'll see where it takes me.

All you artists/studios who are located in Netherlands and want to meet me, don't hesitate to contact me! It would be awesome to meet you guys.

And once again this is smaller update for the blog, in the next one I'm going to talk about my work space/tools. What I use, what I take with me when I'm working on a location etc.

Finally got around to create a speed painting video. This is a warm up piece, I usually do before I start working on a client work. It gets my brain and hand on the same "level", so drawing becomes less painful in a way.

When I do warm ups/speed paintings I usually don't have any idea what I want to draw. So I'll play with shapes and let them talk to me and tell the story. Maybe it's more clear on the video what I'm trying to say here. Alchemy software is very handy in this matter, I mean creating random shapes for you. You can find it at: http://al.chemy.org/ Its a open source project so it's completely free to download and use.

Hopefully you enjoy the video!

Just a lil' update before upcoming bigger update that contains speed paint video of mine.

So I got an email today from redbubble and they told me that one of my paintings got featured on their homepage! How cool is that. :) This is what email said: "Congratulations! Your work is featured on the RedBubble homepage today. One of our homepage curators picked your image because they thought it was brilliant. Less than 3 in a thousand works make it onto the homepage – so that’s a great achievement!"

And if you feel like, you can purchase my photos and paintings from links on the right side of the blog.

Last month we visited Kaunas city, (Lithuania) with my girlfriend and I promised to post some of the photos that I took there. Here they are, hopefully you enjoy them!!

What I loved the most about Kaunas was that of course it was cheap country to visit. (We were living 5-10€ per person a day eating and drinking outside!) But you could also see the old buildings near the new ones. This really inspired me to take some street photos with my olympus e-p3 + 17mm f2.8 lens that I used all the time. It turned out to be perfect combo for the street photos.

Kaunas is really green, full of old interesting buildings (that I already mentioned) with lots of textures that should interest all the photographers out there! Cheap beer, a round 1 euro 0,5 liters when ordered from a bar. Not to mention the food which is also really cheap and really good there. So if you are on a budget and still wanna visit some country, this would be a good choice!

Let the photos tell rest of the story!
